Krueger says farewell to Pine Hill Center

He was there at the beginning 10 years ago. He helped mold it, shape it, save it, maintain it, and do everything else that a community center needs in order to thrive.
And now, for Pine Hill resident James Krueger, it is time to move on.
Though a talented singer/songwriter, Krueger is perhaps best known in the region as the Executive Director of the Pine Hill Community Center, a thriving non-profit entity that Krueger has been involved with since it was created a decade ago.
Krueger sent word of his departure to the Catskill Mountain News last week.

'Economics of Happiness' is Saturday program focus

Pine Hill — “The Economics of Happiness” is a new documentary about a growing trend of communities coming together to re-build human scale, ecological economies based on a new paradigm – an economics of localization.

On Saturday, May 21, there will be a screening of this timely documentary at the Pine Hill Community Center at 2 p.m. Following the documentary, the community center will host a campfire and chili dinner. All are welcome. There is an $8 suggested donation.


Amber Certain new library director in Pine Hill

Pine Hill — The Morton Memorial Library has announced the appointment of Amber Certain of Margaretville to the position of director effective April 1.


M-ARK project expands into Pine Hill

The MARK Project Inc., a not-for-profit, tax-exempt rural development company whose territory includes Andes, Middletown and Roxbury and the villages of Fleischmanns and Margaretville, is branching out to work in Ulster County.

Monday Night, MARK Executive Director Peg Ellsworth attended a meeting of the Shandaken Town Board to explain that she feels the Hamlet of Pine Hill in that town might benefit from MARK’s help.

The Pine Hill Community Center has embarked on a program called the Main Street Initiative.
According to Director James Krueger, one aim is to get Pine Hill listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.

“Being listed on the National and State Registers would bring well-deserved recognition and prestige to Pine Hill,” he said.

Pow Wow is Saturday at PH Center

A Thunder in the Valley Pow Wow at the Pine Hill Community Center will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
