MARK secures funding for Village of Fleischmanns

Fleischmanns— The Village of Fleischmanns will be the hub of construction activity this summer with an active NY Main Street Program, the recently announced $83,000 in Smart Growth Funding and a coveted $125,000 NYS Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation award announcement for park development.


Zoom Gallery calling artists for theme show

Fleischmanns — The Zoom Gallery is calling for area artists to submit artwork related to “Interpretations of Animal Life in the Catskills,” to be included in a show opening on May 1, for the 2011 season.

The show will honor domestic animals as well as wildlife that contribute to the rich nature of the Catskill Region.


Court reverses Fleischmanns Theater case in favor of village

The Village of Fleischmanns has won key legal proceeding that will allow the municipality to pursue foreclosure on the former Fleischmanns Theater building on Main Street.

A panel of five judges from Third Department of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of New York handed down a ruling on October 21 that overturned a Delaware County Court decision blocking the foreclosure.


Craig Werth plays Fleischmanns benefit

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Craig Werth, a Margaretville Central School graduate, will perform Sunday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Fleischmanns Community Church on Main Street.

Now based in New Hampshire, Craig returns to the Catskill Mountains to perform at this church fund-raiser. There is a suggested donation of $10 for the concert.


Catskill Mountain House featured in Saturday film

Fleischmanns — “The Catskill Mountain House and The World Around, “ a brand new film by Catskills area filmmaker Tobe Carey, will be shown on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at Skene Memorial Library in Fleischmanns. This is only the second screening anywhere for this film, which had its world premiere October 23 in Hunter.


Musical politics on Saturday at La Cabana

The free program, “Songs America Voted By,” will features tunes like “Tippecanoe and Tyler Too,” “Grover’s Veto” and “You’re All Right, Teddy.” Sung with great gusto from porches and taverns across the land, these songs livened up street corners and torchlight parades. Campaign wordsmiths, often using popular melodies of the day, wrote catchy ditties that got stuck in our heads as we went to the polls.


Fleischmanns' historic homes will be on display Saturday

Visitors can take a step back in time on Sunday, Oct. 10 and into the “First Floors” of a dozen historic properties in Fleischmanns. The village’s Historic House Tours will not only afford an inside glimpse into lovingly restored “grande dames,” it will also paint a portrait of Catskills life decades ago.
