Twilight on the Rails rolls Saturday at D&U

There’s no better way to spend a lovely summer evening than on the Delaware & Ulster Railroad listening to great music as you roll along beside the East Branch of the Delaware River. On Saturday, September 4, the Blues Maneuver will take to the rails on the historic D&URR from 6-8:30 p.m. for a slow moving scenic train ride that everyone will enjoy.


Recycled art demo Sat. at market

The Catskill Mountain Artisans’ Guild presents craft artisan Lisa Scalf who will demonstrate how she takes recycled cans and fabricates them into footstools and other fun items on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market on Route 30, Halcottsville as part of the “Catskill Arts & Air” series.


Robberies planned Saturday, Aug. 28 at D&U Railroad

Arkville — Reports are coming in from other railroads in the region of the return of the infamous Shadows of the Old West. These bandits are making their presence known on every pay train that rolls on the rails.


Arkville man killed in Route 28 accident

Jordan SoderbackJordan SoderbackA 19-year-old Arkville man was killed August 10 in an automobile accident on Route 28 near Boiceville.

Justin Soderback was ejected from a vehicle operated by another Arkville resident, Erica M. Miller. Police said the vehicle rolled over and pinned Soderback. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


WDC advisor to attend World Water Conference

Arkville — The Water Discovery Center (WDC), in its efforts to reach out to international experts concerned with water resources, will send a member of its National Advisory Board to the annual session of World Water Week, in Stockholm, Sweden September 5 through 11.


Arkville man killed in one-car accident

Jordan Soderback, 19, of Arkville was killed in a one-car accident on Route 28 in Olive Tuesday afternoon, August 10. The driver of the vehicle, Erica Miller, 31, also of Arkville, was charged with driving under the influence of narcotics and endangering the welfare of a child.


Pakatakan Paintings of Spirit and Place featured at Erpf showing opening Aug. 14

Arkville — “Pakatakan, Paintings of Spirit and Place “ by Judy Abbott, will be on exhibit in The Catskill Center’s Erpf Gallery in Arkville from August 14-October 31.

The exhibit, presented in partnership with The Roxbury Arts Group, will open with a reception on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.


Riparian Buffer Workshop held on D&URR

Arkville — Clear skies and comfortable temperatures made Saturday, July 31 a perfect day for a train ride. The Delaware and Ulster Railroad provided the venue for the First Annual Riparian Buffer Workshop hosted by the Catskill Streams Buffer Initiative (CSBI) of the Delaware County Soil & Water Conservation District (DCSWCD).


AFD tanker truck damaged during pool-filling episode

An Arkville Fire Department tanker truck was seriously damaged on Sunday evening, July 11 while it was being used by one of the department’s members to fill his swimming pool in Arkville.


Prize drawing features Yankee tickets

The Arkville Revitalization Committee is sponsoring a prize-drawing for a pair of tickets to a baseball game featuring the Seattle Mariners at the New York Yankees on Friday, Aug. 20.

Tickets for the drawing are available at Casey Joe’s Coffeehouse in Arkville, Catskill Rentals in Kelly Corners and from members of the Arkville Fire Department.
