MCS girls edge DCS Eagles

It all came down to the fourth and final quarter of the Margaretville Blue Devils’ league win over Downsville on Thursday night. Brandi Balcom hit 10 of her 14 total points in the quarter and Casey Hubbell iced two of two free throws in the closing minutes to extend the Blue Devils’ lead to seven.

Community turnout tops 300 for Andes farm documentary

More than 300 people filled the gymnasium at Andes Central School last Saturday night to view “The Dairy Farms of Andes,” a student produced, 50-minute film which first took shape in an elective cinema class two years ago.


ACS boys down Eagles, Devils in hoop play

It was a group effort that led to Andes’ sound victory over visiting Downsville on Tuesday night, which snapped a five-game losing streak for the Mountaineers.
Ethan Berghammer led Andes with 18 points and Eric Reed added 14 while Cody Ruff tallied 11 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and two steals for the Mountaineers, who moved to 7-6 overall and 3-6 in the league. Josh Bonifacic led Andes in rebounds with 11.


Basketball results mixed for girls' teams; Lady Rockets post first win of the season

Downsville 54, Andes 43 (Wednesday, Jan. 21)
Mariah Ruff led Andes with 19 points, including three three-pointers when Andes hosted Downsville last Wednesday. The Mountaineers also got 11 rebounds apiece from Karli Tait and Rachel Andrews and six assists and five steals from Ruff.
Andes led by two points at the end of the first quarter, but relinquished the lead in the second, when Downsville went on a 13-5 scoring run.

Margaretville girls split pair in week's basketball action

The Margaretville girls improved to 7-3 overall after a convincing 39-29 win at Windham last week Tuesday.
The Blue Devils were led by Erica Faulkner, who tallied all of her team-high 11 points in the second half, when Margaretville outscored Windham 30-16. Faulkner also had 13 rebounds for Margaretville.
